Vanuatu Road
Rules
You should also be aware that traffic in Vanuatu moves on the right side of the
road. As in most places, it is advisable to wear your seat belt while driving in Vanuatu. The maximum speed limit
is 50 kilometers per hour on most of the roads in Port Vila as well as Luganville. The roads
in both of these towns do tend to be somewhat narrow, so it is important to take care while driving, particularly
at night. When you are driving along the road, be aware that you should give way to any traffic that is coming from
the right. When at a round-about, you will need to give way to traffic that is arriving from the left.
Vanuatu
Roads
In addition, you should be aware that many of Vanuatu roads outside of the urban
centers are not paved. Driving through the rural areas outside Port Vila can be a great way to see the beauty of
the local countryside. But you will need to take care to avoid driving off of the main roads as you may find
yourself trespassing without being aware of it. Stay on the main roads and if you want to wander away, ask locals
first. They're very helpful.
