Vanuatu Ocean Swims Record
Numbers
There are two Vanuatu Oceans Swims held every year. The Vanuatu Ocean Swim Port Vila and the Espiritu Santo Aore
Swim, held on the 13th and 16th of June, saw record numbers at both events, with many previous competitors
returning. The Espiritu Santo swim in particular saw a big increase in swimmers, with family and friends enjoying
the swim and the variety of tours, adventures and great diving to be had on the 'Big Island'.
Vanuatu Kitesurfing Classic in August
The Vanuatu International Kitesurfing Classic will take place on Efate Island, for the third year in a row. This
year Vanuatu Kitesurfing Classic will be held between the 11 - 16th of August, on Efate. In addition to the
previously seen freestyle and the long distance categories, another two events will be introduced this year. Wave
riding and Air Time. The first 4 days of the competition will be at Pango Village where the wave riding will be
organized. And if the wind is off, Pango provides some very good surf breaks.
Pacific Youth Festival in Fiji
The Pacific Youth Festival is an event that is celebrated every four years by youth within the Pacific region.
The first Pacific Youth Festival was held in Tahiti in 2006. This year it is in the beautiful island of Fiji. About
300 young people from around the region have gathered this week in Suva, Fiji, for the 2nd Pacific Youth Festival,
which runs from 11–18 July. The festival was launched on Saturday morning when youth delegates from 14
participating Pacific Island countries and territories (PICTs), wearing colourful Pacific prints, marched through
the streets of Suva.
